Wildlife You May Encounter

🐢Giant Tortoises

The iconic gentle giants of the Galapagos, weighing up to 250kg and living over 100 years. Visit breeding centres on Santa Cruz and see them roaming free in the highlands.

🦎Marine Iguanas

The world's only sea-going lizards. Watch them bask on volcanic rocks before diving into the Pacific to graze on algae. Found only in the Galapagos.

🐦Blue-footed Boobies

Famous for their vivid blue feet and hilarious courtship dance. These expert divers plunge from great heights to catch fish in spectacular fashion.

🦭Galapagos Sea Lions

Playful and curious, these charming pinnipeds will swim alongside you during snorkelling excursions. Pups are especially inquisitive.

🐢Green Sea Turtles

Graceful underwater swimmers that nest on Galapagos beaches. Snorkel alongside them in the crystal-clear waters of the archipelago.

🐧Galapagos Penguins

The only penguins found north of the equator! These small, endangered penguins are a rare and special sighting on Isabela and Fernandina islands.

🦈Hammerhead Sharks

Schools of scalloped hammerhead sharks patrol the deep waters around Darwin and Wolf islands. A bucket-list dive experience.

🦅Frigate Birds

Males inflate their spectacular red throat pouches to attract mates. North Seymour island is the best place to witness this display.
